Do you want to transform your appearance? Perhaps you would like to improve the way your smile looks. With cosmetic dentistry, patients can enjoy a beautiful, healthy-looking smile that appears natural. Placing porcelain veneers is a common procedure for those looking to achieve a total smile transformation. This is because veneers conceal many types of imperfections including chipped or crooked teeth along with yellowing and permanent stains. These custom and permanent cosmetic enhancements are long lasting and durable. Our dentist answers common questions about this life-changing procedure.
How long can I expect veneers to last?
Since veneers are permanently bonded over teeth with a cement-like compound, these cosmetic enhancements are incredibly durable. With proper care, you can expect them to last for at least a decade.
What is the procedure like?
The placement process itself is minimally invasive. Receiving veneers takes two visits to our office. At your first visit, our team will remove a thin layer of tooth enamel and then take molds of the teeth. These molds provide the basis for each veneer’s specifications. After dental technicians make veneers from pieces of high-quality porcelain, patients will return to our office for the bonding process.
Teeth will be lightly roughened to create a suitable bonding surface and then the veneers will be applied to the teeth. As the cement-like compound dries, final adjustments will be made to ensure that each veneer is placed properly over each tooth. When the process is complete, patients leave our office with a perfectly straight, white, and uniform-looking smile.
Will my new smile look natural?
Yes. This procedure is highly customized for the needs of each patient. Each veneer is made to complement the shape and size of each tooth without appearing too large for one’s mouth and face shape. Additionally, since these enhancements are made from porcelain, which comes in a variety of white shades and reflects light as teeth do, cosmetic dental work is virtually undetectable to others.
