A conventional denture is a common choice for patients who desire complete tooth replacement. It’s a removable appliance that will enable you to speak and eat effectively, and it features a full row of attractive artificial teeth. We know that the jawbone can be expected to shrink considerably when all of the teeth are missing. This loss of volume can contribute to an unstable denture. To address this common concern, we may suggest an implant-supported denture as an alternative to the conventional denture.
An implant-supported denture looks just like a conventional denture, but is held in place by dental implants. The implants may snap together with the underside of the denture directly, or they may be used to anchor a thin metal bar upon which the denture can be seated and removed. This design allows for a denture experience that feels more natural and secure than the conventional denture. And, because of the underlying dental implants, the loss of bone volume in the jaw is significantly reduced.
